During Gundam Conference Spring 2026, Bandai Namco Group confirmed that the 50th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam franchise will be celebrated at GUNDAM-Con, a new event with the concept of “creating together with the fans.”
The first GUNDAM-Con event will be held in January 2027 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, which is the annual home of Tokyo Game Show. According to Bandai Namco, GUNDAM-Con will be held at various locations around the world after the January 2027 Chiba event.
Also as part of the “Gundam 50th Anniversary Project” celebrations, the recent conference released the “A Boy With Gundam” short prologue movie. The short movie highlights a young boy’s connection with the Gundam franchise, which only continues to blossom as he grows older. A new Mobile Suit Gundam 50th anniversary remaster is also in the works for a 2029 release.
Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is now playing theaters in the U.S. with English subtitles (Japanese voice-overs) and an English dub. Participating theaters will offer fans 1 of 3 exclusive collective cards while supplies last. The cards highlight the designs of the Xi Gundam and the RX-104FF Penelope.
Shukou Murase is the director of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe at Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Sunrise Animation Studios. Yuichi Kuboki joins Takako Suzuki as color key artists. Further, Yoshinori Sayama is the display designer, Yoshihisa Ōyama is the new compositing director of photography, and Manabu Kamitōno directs the visual effects.
