Square Enix is holding a survey for account holders in Japan, which is focused entirely on remakes and remasters from the company. It features questions about what kind of games players would want to see be remade.
According to Stealth40k, the full list of questions in Square Enix’s new survey are as follows:
- What Square Enix games would you like to see remade?
- What format would you like to see games remade in? (HD-2D, 3D, Pixel Remaster, etc.)
- What’s important in purchasing a remake/remaster? (new story content, post game content, voice acting)
While Square Enix didn’t specify which games it is considering remaking or remastering, the company has had great success with the initiative in the last few years. Last year, it released HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest I, II, and III. Earlier this month, it also released a 3D remake of Dragon Quest VII, called Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.
Square’s most beloved remakes as of late have been the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, which includes Remake, Rebirth, and the unreleased part 3. In January, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade released on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, our 2024 Game of the Year, will release on June 3 for Switch 2 and Xbox.
Lastly, director Naoki Hamaguchi recently revealed that Square Enix plans to “share more updates on the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Project than ever before.” The third and unannounced title in the Final Fantasy VII remake project is likely set to be revealed soon, based on rumors and Hamaguchi’s message.
