Sony Group announced its third-quarter financial results this week, and as part of that, it was revealed that video game and music platforms increased 14.1% year-over-year. Sony specifically credited Fate/Grand Order and Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 as two entities that outperformed expectations.
Fate/Grand Order celebrated a major milestone in 2025, marking the 10th anniversary of the series. This celebration was closed out in December with the release of Cosmos in the Lostbelt – Final Chapter, acting as the final piece of the game’s second arc.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle was released in theaters in July in Japan, followed by a September release in the United States. The movie outgrossed Superman (2025) at the global box office, acting as a major hit worldwide and beyond Japan. Produced by ufotable, this film is the first in a set of three planned movies covering the Infinity Castle arc.
Sony Group’s video game and music unit is largely comprised of Aniplex, a fully-owned subsidiary of the company. Aniplex is responsible for the planning, production, and distribution of countless anime, including Fate/strange Fake, Sword Art Online, and more. This extends to home releases, soundtracks, and more. Beyond anime, Aniplex also acts as a publisher of games, including those from TYPE-MOON.
