SEGA has released a new trailer to celebrate and kick off an eventful year for the 35th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Throughout 2026, SEGA will host numerous activations and celebrations for the Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary, including digital content, fan meet-ups, community gatherings, exclusive brand and retail partnerships, museum pop-ups and art exhibits, live concerts, and so much more, all of which will be revealed on the new official website

“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate 35 years of our beloved Sonic franchise with our fans,” said Marcella Churchill, Vice President of SEGA/ATLUS Brand Marketing at SEGA of America. “This milestone is not just a reflection of our past, but also a look toward the future as we continue to innovate and grow. We want to bring our community together and create memorable experiences for all our fans throughout 2026!”

Fans can look forward to the physical release of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on March 26 for $69.99, featuring the full game on the cartridge. In addition to the release of the physical Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, the Blue Star Extreme Gear will be available for free to all players.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The Season Pass is available now for $29.99. AiAi from Super Monkey Ball and the Banana Cruiser Vehicle will be added in a free update in January 2026. Sonic the Hedgehog IDW series characters Tangle and Whisper will join the roster in February 2026.

Final Weapon previously reviewed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and gave it a 4.5/5 score, noting that “there is very little in the way between the player and the game’s content, making for a refreshing pick-up-and-play experience that will satisfy players of all ages and skill levels. CrossWorlds is a kart racer that deeply understands the appeal of the genre and manages to finish in first place because of that.”
