Capcom has revealed new details about the story and gameplay of Resident Evil Requiem in the recently aired Resident Evil Showcase. While the short showcase didn’t reveal any new major information, it still provided valuable insight on what fans can expect from the upcoming release.
The showcase revealed the first proper look at gameplay for Leon Kennedy, the beloved DSO agent who first debuted in Resident Evil 2. Here, he can use a hatchet to parry attacks, pick up weapons from fallen zombies (including a chainsaw), and deliver devastating finishing moves, inspired by Resident Evil 4. Grace’s gameplay, on the other hand, is more reminiscent of Resident Evil 2.
You will need to choose whether to go on the offensive or sneak around enemies as you play as her. You can also craft valuable items by attacking zombies with a special syringe and use the Requiem revolver to quickly obliterate enemies at the cost of limited ammo. Further, if you pick the Standard (Classic) difficulty, you must have ink ribbons in order to save your game as Grace. A casual difficulty option is also available.
The showcase provided more details on the new zombies, who are fixated on tasks they performed prior to their infection. For instance, you will find a maid who is obsessively cleaning furniture, giving you an opportunity to sneak past her. It also teased “Elpis,” a word that connects Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace, and Leon together. Check out the full gameplay showcase below, alongside a gallery of new images:
Lastly, Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, and the NVIDIA GeForce Now cloud service. A Nintendo Switch 2 pro controller, amiibo, and deluxe edition will also be available.
