Square Enix has announced that it will hold a 9th anniversary celebration livestream for NieR: Automata. The stream will feature no new game announcements.
The stream will take place on YouTube and Niconico on February 20 at 7:30 PM JST, or on February 21 at 2:30 AM PDT/5:30 AM EDT/10:30 AM GMT. It will feature NieR series producer Yosuke Saito, the series’ creative director Yoko Taro, series composer Keiichi Okabe, and NieR: Automata senior game designer Takahisa Taura. Square describes it as a casual conversation to commemorate the anniversary.
Recently, Saito teased that “a little something” is being prepared for the 9th anniversary of NieR: Automata in 2026, according to 4Gamer’s annual end-of-year interviews with Japanese developers. Ahead of the game’s 9th anniversary, Saito notes that fans should not get too excited for what this something could be for NieR: Automata.
Saito said, “Next year marks the 40th anniversary of Dragon Quest! I’d be extremely happy if everyone could join in on a grand celebration. And for NieR: Automata’s ninth anniversary, we’re also preparing ‘just a little something…’ so please don’t get too excited with anticipation! With that, I wish you all a happy New Year.”
While little details about the upcoming announcements are unknown, NieR: Automata End of YoRHa Edition no longer has compatibility issues on Nintendo Switch 2, at the very least. NieR: Automata is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Lastly, all 24 episodes of the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime series are available now to stream on Crunchyroll with English subs and an English dub.
