Dragon Quest and NieR series producer Yosuke Saito has teased that “a little something” is being prepared for the 9th anniversary of NieR: Automata in 2026, according to 4Gamer’s annual end-of-year interviews with Japanese developers. Ahead of the game’s 9th anniversary, Saito notes that fans should not get too excited for what this something could be for NieR: Automata.
Saito said, “Next year marks the 40th anniversary of Dragon Quest! I’d be extremely happy if everyone could join in on a grand celebration. And for NieR: Automata’s ninth anniversary, we’re also preparing ‘just a little something…’ so please don’t get too excited with anticipation! With that, I wish you all a happy New Year.”
Square Enix recently released the Drakengard 3 Original Soundtrack for $12.78 on PC via Steam, and the soundtrack is now streaming on major music distribution services, including Spotify. The Drakengard 3 Original Soundtrack includes 31 tracks, which differs from the original CD version.
There’s no official news of a Drakengard re-release, but NieR: Automata End of YoRHa Edition no longer has compatibility issues on Nintendo Switch 2, at the very least. NieR: Automata is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. All 24 episodes of the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime series are available now to stream on Crunchyroll with English subs and an English dub.
The NieR: Orchestra Concert re:12024 CD releases on January 21, 2026, for 3,850 yen in Japan.
