Crayon Shin-chan Announces New Animated Film, Releases in Summer 2026

TOHO has announced a new animated film in the Crayon Shin-chan series and confirmed that it will release in Summer 2026. The film is titled Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Kikikaikai! Ora no Yōkai Bake-shon, or Crayon Shin-chan The Movie Super Strange! My Yōkai Monster Vacation

The film marks the 33rd 2D animated film in the Crayon Shin-chan series. It focuses on “the land of yōkai,” and the Nohara family going to Hiroshi’s hometown of Akita to attend a famous fireworks festival during the summer. An incident ends up occurring which causes yōkai to escape from their land and will wreak havoc in Akita, and in other areas throughout Japan. The Nohara family then end up going to the land of yōkai, and find themselves in a mysterious yet nostalgic world, where they go on an adventure.

Recently, TV Asahi announced that an anime adaptation for a Crayon Shin-chan manga spin-off is in development. The series, titled Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi, will focus on Shin-chan’s father. Toshiyuki Morikawa will reprise his role as Hiroshi Nohara in the Crayon Shin-chan anime in the upcoming spin-off. The series will air every Friday, starting in October.

Last year, Neos released a game based on the Shin Chan franchise. The game, titled Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town, is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC. There are numerous activities that include fishing, catching bugs, and more.
