SEGA has announced that it will open another Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe pop-up shop, this time in Chicago. It will open on December 20.
The location of the cafe is at 1422 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 6062. It will feature Chicago-themed Sonic merch, and familiar menu items such as: Sonic the Hedgehog’s Turbo Chili Dog, Spicy Fried Chicken Knuckles Sandwich, and Power-Up Ring Onion Rings. There are also drinks inspired by Sonic characters, such as the Sonic Boom Lemonade and the Chaos Emerald Refresher.
A press release describes new menu items, their ingredients, and their origin:
New menu items for the Chicago location will include Knuckles’ Smash Fries with crispy fries topped with smoky beef chili, cheddar cheese and diced onions, and finished with pickled jalapenos; Shadow’s Eclipse Affogato with vanilla bean ice cream and bold espresso topped with a warm strawberry drizzle; and the Scoop-de-Loop Ice Cream Sandwich, decadent blue vanilla ice cream packed between two chocolate chip cookies and rolled in “speed dust” cookie crumble. The Wicker Park pop-up menu was crafted by Chicago’s own Chef David Choi.
Recently, Paramount announced a new “Sonic Universe Event Film,” which will release in theaters on December 22, 2028. The film will release a year after Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which premieres on March 19, 2027. While little details about the film are known, the close proximity to the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the fact that it’s described as an “event” film, plus the already confirmed role of Metal Sonic as an antagonist in the next entry in the franchise, could imply an adaptation of Sonic Heroes. It may also be the highly rumored Shadow the Hedgehog spin-off film. It’s likely that Paramount will confirm more information in the lead up to Sonic 4‘s premiere.
