MAGES. has delayed the release of STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a remake of the original Steins;Gate visual novel, to 2026 in Japan for unannounced platforms. Before being delayed, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT was planned to release in 2025. The remake will feature new story elements and graphics.
In an update from MAGES., the developers confirmed that the character designs of STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT were renewed by character designer huke. Outfits and accessories were also redesigned with more detail that makes characters even more lively. The background graphics, using reference materials from the time, strongly depict 2010’s Akihabara. Locations from the original game were newly added to further enhance the story.
Further, event stills were newly recreated from storyboards to depict the story more closely and dramatically. Scenes that weren’t in the original STEINS;GATE were added to make for an immersive story. More details about STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will be revealed at WePlay Expo 2025, which runs from November 22 to 23 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in Shanghai, China.
Previously, MAGES. teased that the Steins;Gate series will continue in a short trailer. At the end of the Steins;Gate 15th anniversary trailer, MAGES. shared the following text, “Thank you for your patronage over the past 15 years. Steins;Gate will continue.”
A new Steins; title (Steins;???) has been planned/in the works since 2020. Steins;Gate 0 Elite was another title that was planned, but MAGES. has yet to share an update on this title.
The latest entry in the Science Adventure series is ANONYMOUS;CODE, which launched on September 8, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam in the west.
