Kadokawa announced that Koushi Tachibana and Tsunako’s King’s Proposal (Ōsama no Propose) light novel series is getting a new anime adaptation. No further details about the King’s Proposal anime were revealed, but Tsunako, who is also known for her character designs in the Neptunia series, drew a celebratory illustration.
Tachibana launched the light novel series in 2021, and Kadokawa publishes the series. Yen Press releases the light novel series in English. Nemo Kurio launched a manga adaptation of King’s Proposal on Gangan Online in February 2023, and the manga adaptation ended on March 12 with the sixth and final volume.
Here’s an overview of the series, via Yen Press:
A new light novel series from the creative team behind the legendary Date A Live. Saika Kuozaki is an all-powerful witch with looks to die for. She’s also the only woman who can thwart the mysterious entities attempting to destroy the world once every 300 hours. When Saika is mortally wounded, however, she bequeaths both her powers and body to the normal high school boy who happens upon her, Mushiki Kuga. But just because Mushiki has her abilities doesn’t mean he can control them. To stand a chance of saving the world, he’ll have to attend an academy for mages as Saika—all while keeping his identity under wraps!
As previously announced, a new Date A Live anime series is in the works. Koushi Tachibana wrote the original light novel series in 2011. In 2012, Date A Live Season 1 aired with twelve episodes. A year later, ten episodes aired for season 2, and the third season premiered in 2019 with twelve episodes. The fourth season followed up in April 2022, and Date A Live V premiered as the anime’s fifth season in April 2024. All five seasons are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
