Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Update 1.4.0 Patch Notes

New Playable Character: Joe Higashi

A mighty wind blows as Joe Higashi roars onto the City of the Wolves roster! Joe is a powerful infighter with plenty of rushdown options. Master his new Fearless Man stance to deflect blows and demolish opponents in close quarters! Play through Joe’s Arcade/EOST adventures and see what awaits the Muay Thai master now that he’s back in South Town. The Legend of Joe—to be continued!

Ranked Match Phase 1: Let the Battles Begin

The long-awaited Phase 1 is here at last! Ranked Match points will now be calculated separately by character. Unleash your fury online as you take each fighter to the top of the leaderboard! See the news update below for more details.

Leaderboards Get a New Look

We’ve redesigned the leaderboards from the ground up:

      • Each rank now has a stylish new name and unique icon, making progression clearer at a glance.
      • Ranking and Character Mastery data now appears on a single screen for your convenience.
      • New display filters let you specify rank, character, and other criteria, improving usability.

Check out the changes for yourself in-game, and track how you and your rivals compare!

Updated Battle Settings

Stage and music preferences are now separate, ensuring a more tailored online experience. A new Result Screen option helps you stay in the know—and stay motivated as you fight online.

Battle Settings > Stage

We’ve added the ability to select multiple stages for your profile. A stage is chosen at random from your selections when you head into a match. Pick a few of your favorite places to throw down, and leave the rest up to fate! Enjoy the various sights and sounds of South Town each time you play!

Battle Settings > Music

Integration with the in-game jukebox has been improved. Use a custom mix or original playlist and rock out your way as you rev it up online, or sit back and let random playback (all tracks or a single album) handle the rest. Switch songs up to suit your mood and playstyle!

Battle Settings > Result Screen

You can now choose what information shows on the result screen.

      • Win Rate: Cumulative percentage of victories
      • Next Rank: Remaining points needed for promotion

More Streamlined Online Play

The start of Phase 1 also heralds a host of other online improvements, as follows. Enjoy a more streamlined user experience as you fight players all around the world!

ONLINE

      • Connection type (wired or wireless) now shows in various places: on the match HUD, at opponent confirmation, in rooms, and so on.

MATCH ENTRY

      • Added an opponent confirmation (and toggle) when a match is found.

JUKEBOX

      • Added separate BGM options for the Match Entry and Room Match screens.

OTHER

      • Made connectivity adjustments to improve online play.

New Update

ONLINE PROFILE

      • Added a quick link to your Steam or Epic Games Store profile in-game.

TRAINING

      • Added a Reversals menu. This new feature lets you specify which move the training dummy will perform on reversal.
      • Added a Shortcuts submenu.
      • Training Mode mappings that were originally part of Button Config now appear in this submenu.

TRIAL

      • Added a Shortcuts submenu.

SETTINGS

      • Added a Display Device option to Settings > Display. When playing on setups with at least two monitors, use this to specify which one will show the game screen. (Note: Players’ resolution preferences have been reset to accommodate this new feature.)

GALLERY

      • Added international versions of legacy Fatal Fury openings. These will unlock at the same time as their Japanese version equivalents moving forward (or automatically when you apply this update, for any Japanese versions you have already unlocked).

COLOR EDIT

      • Made minor functional adjustments to improve visibility and usability.

OTHER

      • Improved cursor movement and button responsiveness (for confirmations and so on) in some modes.

Resolved Issues (Non-Battle)

      • EOST
        • Super Dodge Attack
          • Resolved: Frame advantage on block wasn’t the same as a regular Dodge Attack for some characters.
      • SETTINGS
        • Subtitle Background Opacity
          • Resolved: Opacity setting would not apply in EOST Mode.
          • Default value has been changed to accommodate this fix (0→30).

Battle Adjustments

Overall

      • Resolved Issues
        • Projectiles
          • Resolved: Normal attacks would yield counter hit levels of hit stun. Issue occurred when connecting with a normal after a projectile counter hit.
        • Other
          • Resolved: Several minor issues.

Terry Bogard

      • Resolved Issues
        • High Dodge Attack
          • Resolved: Wouldn’t hit, despite reaching the opponent. Expanded attack hitbox downward to address this.
        • Burning Wave (REV)
          • Resolved: Power Wave (REV) would come out instead. Issue occurred when doing the move just before overheating.

Marco Rodrigues

      • Resolved Issues
        • Kohou (Light)
          • Resolved: Could wakeup roll on counter hit.

Cristiano Ronaldo

      • Resolved Issues
        • Far Heavy Punch
          • Resolved: Hit stun on Wild Punish was shorter that intended.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. DLC characters Ken Masters from Capcom’s Street Fighter series and Andy Bogard are available now with the Season Pass, and Street Fighter’s Chun-Li and Mr. Big will arrive in winter 2025 and early 2026, respectively.
