Kadokawa announced that Rinne Ishida and Izumi’s Matsurika Kanriden (The Tale of the Scholar-Official Matsurika) light novel series is getting a new TV anime series adaptation. Izumi and manga artist Waka Takase released new illustrations to celebrate the announcement of the Matsurika Kanriden anime series, and a new promotional video was released.
Ishida published the first light novel in the Matsurika Kanriden series back in July 2017, with illustrations by Izumi. The 17th volume of the Matsurika Kanriden series was released on April 15 in Japan. The series is still ongoing with over 2 million copies in circulation.
Takase launched the manga adaptation of the light novel series in Akita Shoten’s Monthly Princess magazine in August 2018. 11 compiled book volumes have been released thus far as of April 16, 2025, and the 12th volume will release on October 16 in Japan.
