Shoji Kawamori’s Labyrinth Anime Film Premieres January 1, 2026

A new cast member was revealed with the latest trailer.

The official website for Macross creator Shoji Kawamori’s original anime film Labyrinth (Meikyū no Shiori) announced the January 1, 2026 premiere date for Japanese theaters. A new teaser trailer was also released, revealing Takuto Teranishi of idol group timelesz will make his voice acting debut as Suguru Kagami, a young and well known entrepreneur who researches how to connect the human brain to smartphones. 

Previously announced cast members for the Labyrinth anime film include:

  • Atarashii Gakkō! group member Suzuka as Shiori Maezawa / Shiori@Revolution
  • Taizō Harada as Komori
  • Aoi Itō as Kirara Kurashina
  • Jun Saitō as Kento Yamada

Shoji Kawamori will be directing the anime at SANZIGEN. Risa Ebata is handling the character design, and Taichi Hashimoto is writing the script for the anime. Slow Curve, Vector Vision, GAGA, and Fuji Television have been credited with the original story concept. Slow Curve is also credited with planning and producing the project.

The Labyrinth (Meikyū no Shiori) film centers around the life of high school student Shiori Maezawa, who is transported into another world after her smartphone breaks. She then notices strange photos of herself on social media that she doesn’t remember posting and realizes a version of herself is acting independently in the real world. Shiori must now escape the digital labyrinth and confront the impostor.
