TOHO Games, Edelweiss, and G2 Studios have officially unveiled Sakuna Hinuka Junreitan, the previously announced Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin mobile game. Sakuna Hinuka Junreitan will be a free-to-play “rice cultivation simulation x exploration battle RPG” for Android, iOS, and PC via Steam. The game will feature Sakuna (VA: Naomi Oozora) in a new outfit, along with Hinuka (voiced by Machico), as shown on the official website.
In November 2024, a trailer for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Season 2 was released as a YouTube short to tease fans for the anime’s return. In addition, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin character designer Ryudai Murayama released a new visual to celebrate the game’s 4th anniversary. The visual depicts the continuation of the anime, the new mobile game, and the new Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation spin-off.
Moreover, Edelweiss is currently developing Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, which focuses on Sakuna’s close friend Princess Kokorowa. Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation is the “first entry in an expanding Sakuna franchise,” implying that more games will be on the way. Platforms and a release date were not announced yet, however.
The anime adaptation of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin premiered on July 6, 2024. The anime was produced by TOHO Animation and P.A. Works. The opening and ending theme songs of the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin anime are “Hareha! (Sunny!)” by Ikimonogakari and “ORIGAMI” by Little Glee Monster.
Lastly, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
