Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising revealed the gameplay trailer for the upcoming DLC character Wilnas. Wilnas, the Vermillion of the Seix Dragons arrives in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising on August 5 alongside a new Battle Pass.
Additionally, the trailer teases the next DLC character, Meg, by showcasing her intro animation at the end. It was then revealed that Meg will arrive to GBVSR in October 2025. As a reminder, Ilsa releases in early 2026. To check it all out, watch the official gameplay trailer below, via Cygames EN:

Moreover, GBVSR will now have EX versions of characters that players can choose from. By pressing R1 while selecting a character on the character select screen, players will pick a new version of a character that has new special moves and unique actions. Gran, Djeeta, and Narmaya will be the first set of EX characters added into the Wilnas update.
Also, a Zombie Land Saga premium avatar set is coming to GBVSR in update 2.20 to celebrate Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise‘s theatrical release in Japan on October 24. This set includes a lobby avatar of Kotaro Tatsumi, which can also be set as a partner to advise and encourage you during gameplay. Check out the trailer below:
But there’s more to come in GBVSR, as all 28 base roster characters have been unlocked in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Free Edition from 7:00 p.m. PT on July 31 to 7:00 p.m. PT on August 7. This promotion commemorates GBVSR‘s presence at EVO 2025, which takes place in Las Vegas from August 1 to 3.
At EVO, the Cygames booth is holding a beta test for the new “Smart” and “Super Ultimate” control schemes. These are designed for casual players and beginners in mind. The booth also has exclusive merchandise, including returning merch from EVO Japan.
Further, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is part of the main game lineup at EVO 2025 alongside Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, Mortal Kombat 1, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and Marvel vs Capcom 2.
