Square Enix today has opened a brand-new X (formerly Twitter) account specifically focused on the HD-2D series of games. This account, @HD2DGames, will share information on all upcoming HD-2D titles, including Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake and the just announced Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
Many new HD-2D updates and reveals were released today during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase presentation. This includes a free update to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake for Nintendo Switch 2, as well as two brand-new game announcements.
The first, Octopath Traveler 0, brings a fresh new adventure to the Octopath Traveler series. Set to release on December 4 across all platforms, you’ll be able to customize your protagonist for the very first time, with the theme of the game being ‘Embark on an adventure of your own creation,’ according to Producer Hirohito Suzuki. A Collector’s Edition is now available to pre-order at the Square Enix Store.
The other new game announcement from today is The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. This HD-2D adventure marks the first HD-2D game to feature real-time action combat. You can try out the game today exclusively on the Nintendo Switch with the ‘Debut Demo’. Square Enix revealed that the game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2026.
Square Enix will launch Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake on October 30, 2025.
