Street Fighter 6 has now sold over 5 million copies, according to the game’s X (formerly Twitter) account. This marks another significant milestone for the game, so the developers revealed an illustration to celebrate this achievement.
Last year, it was reported that the game sold 3 million copies. Ever since the game’s release, it’s clear that it’s been growing in popularity. The developers would like to thank all the fans of SF6 on its 2nd anniversary for their continued support of the game thus far.
What’s New With Street Fighter 6 This Year?
Recently, the patch notes for the Elena update released on the game’s website. This patch includes balance adjustments for every character, as well as changes to mechanics and tools, such as perfect parries, sweeps, throws, and more.
Additionally, multiple additions and features arrived to Elena’s update, such as ‘Outfit 3’ rolling out for all characters throughout the year. The Elena update also introduced two new features to Challenge Customization: “VS Type Layout” and “Sound Priority.” Players can change the layout and sound priority of the Challenge screen to customize its appearance. After matching with an opponent online, the newly created Challenge screen will pop up.
That’s not all though, as legendary composer Yoko Shimomura teamed up with Street Fighter 6 for a special collaboration. A new BGM track titled “Edge of Triumph” released, marking Shimomura’s first Street Fighter composition in 34 years. Yoko Shimomura is known for her work on the Kingdom Hearts games and Street Fighter II.
As for potential DLC characters, Capcom announced four new DLC characters for Season 3. Sagat, Viper, Alex, and Ingrid will be joining Street Fighter 6 in Season 3, and the season kicks off this summer with Sagat joining first.
The new Street Fighter Season 3 characters will be released in the following order:
- Sagat – Summer 2025
- C. Viper – Autumn 2025
- Alex – Early Spring 2026
- Ingrid – Late Spring 2026
Lastly, Shogakukan announced that Street Fighter 6 will receive a new manga titled Street Fighter Luke Rising. The new Street Fighter 6 manga will launch in Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics on June 29. Yoshio Mokomokomaru Masao will draw the manga.
