At the request of Empress Dowager Anshi, Maomao continues her investigation into the late emperor’s curse in The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 episode 33. In The Apothecary Diaries episode 32, lady Anshi requested Maomao to investigate the late emperor’s death to confirm whether she had cursed him or not. It’s revealed she was impregnated by the late emperor at an early age, resulting in a c-section operation that birthed the current emperor. She wished for him to “go away for a long time,” and one year after his death, Anshi and the current emperor examined his body to discover that it was not decaying. Maomao seeks to find out how this is even possible in episode 33 by heading to the palace’s mausoleum.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 33 Release Date and Time
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 episode 33 premieres on Friday, March 7 at 9:15 a.m. PST / 12:15 p.m. EST on Crunchyroll. The new episode is titled “The Late Emperor” and it will stream with English subs first, followed by the English dub at a later date. 12 to 13 episodes will release in the first cour of Season 2.

What to Expect in Episode 33
As shown in the preview, Maomao discovers a mysteriously colored pebble, which turns out to be a vital clue in the mystery involving the previous emperor’s curse. This pebble was placed on the emperor by Anshi, and episode 33 is expected to expand on the events that eventually lead up to his death. Moreover, it appears that Maomao will have the help of Jinshi and Gaoshun as they head into the late emperor’s old room.
