Maomao takes on a rather curious task from the Empress Dowager Anshi in The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 episode 32. Unknowingly, Maomao is getting even closer to the truth about Jinshi and his true role, and here’s what else you can expect in the latest episode of The Apothecary Diaries.
The Apothecary Diaries episode 31 focused on the Shrine of Choosing, which is based around the line of succession for the Emperor and the legend of the Mother Royal. It was also revealed to fans watching that the Emperor is acting as Jinshi’s older brother in the hierarchy, and the Emperor failed to complete the shrine. However, when the Emperor chose Maomao to lead the way, she was able to solve the puzzle of the colored doors and began to catch onto what Jinshi’s role in the palace could be.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 32 Release Date and Time
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 episode 32 premieres on Friday, February 28 at 9:15 a.m. PST / 12:15 p.m. EST on Crunchyroll. The new episode is titled “The Empress Dowager” and it will stream with English subs first, followed by the English dub at a later date. 12 to 13 episodes will release in the first cour of Season 2.

What to Expect in Episode 32
As shown in the preview, Maomao will directly interact with Empress Dowager Anshi, the biological grandmother of Jinshi. A false rumor about Maomao seemingly spreads within the palace after hanging out with Shisui the bug catcher, eventually leading her to Anshi. The Empress Dowager asks Maomao if she put a curse on the previous emperor, and then asks the apothecary to investigate the previous emperor and clear up the rumor, too.
