Pokémon Presents 2025 News and Announcements

    Pokémon Champions

The Pokémon Company and The Pokémon Works announced Pokémon Champions, a new battle-focused game for Nintendo Switch, Android via Google Play, and iOS via App Store. The game features cross-platform play, and players can bring classic Pokémon from the Pokémon HOME application.

Here’s a description of the new game, via The Pokémon Company:

Get ready to experience everything you love about Pokémon battles all in one place—in Pokémon Champions. This new, battle-focused game will feature familiar mechanics such as Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves, creating an environment conducive to rich and varied strategies for new and experienced Trainers alike. It’s not just familiar mechanics—you’ll be able to bring in classic Pokémon from Pokémon HOME, too! Look forward to cross-platform battles alongside your favorite Pokémon on Nintendo Switch and mobile, with a variety of different modes available for your desired experience.

    Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The Pokémon Company and Game Freak announced Pokémon Legends Z-A will launch in late 2025 for Nintendo Switch. A new trailer for the game was shown as the Pokémon Presents broadcast, revealing more information and the starter Pokémon.

As previously announced, the new game takes players back to the Kalos region, the setting of Pokémon X and Y from Nintendo 3DS. Specifically, the game is set inside Lumiose City, which undergoes a major redevelopment plan by the large corporation Quasartico Inc. At the center of the city is its major symbol, Prism Tower.

When players arrive in the region, they stay at an old hotel named Hotel Z. The hotel is run by AZ, a man who is nine feet tall and claims to be over 3,000 years old. Additionally, the player’s rival is Urbain or Taunie, depending on the appearance players choose at the beginning of the game.

The starter Pokémon for Pokémon Legends Z-A are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. In combat, players can now move and dodge with their Pokémon, giving them more control. The player character can also wear a bracelet that allows Pokémon to unleash their Mega Evolutions. Lumiose City has designated “wild zones” using cutting-edge technology. In these zones, players can battle Pokémon and catch them by throwing Poké Balls.
