During a recent livestream, Marvelous announced upcoming farming action RPG Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will receive new DLC in collaboration with Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
Sakuna will be a resident of Azuma, acting as an NPC that Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma players can interact with at her home where she continues to cultivate rice. Players will be able to befriend Sakuna and invite her to the party for battle. More details about the new DLC will be revealed at a later date.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma releases May 30 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam for $59.99. A Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Earth Dancer Edition will be sold for $99.99 in the Marvelous USA store. This physical edition includes a custom box, original soundtrack CD, an artbook, a special folding fan, the Seasons of Love, additional DLC costumes, and a Woolby plush keychain.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. The anime adaptation of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, produced by TOHO Animation and P.A. Works, premiered in July 2024. The opening and ending theme songs for the first season were “Hareha! (Sunny!)” by Ikimonogakari and “ORIGAMI” by Little Glee Monster.
Season 2 of the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin anime is currently in the works. In addition, developer Edelweiss is working on Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, a spin-off game that focuses on Princess Kokorowa. A new mobile game is also in development.
