Fangamer has announced that the upcoming re-release of OFF will include new tracks from Undertale/Deltarune creator, Toby Fox.
In an interview, Fox stated how his games were inspired by the 2008 RPG Maker game. Specifically, he stated the following:
“Papyrus’s appearance was initially inspired by the first boss of OFF, Dedan. Next, Sans’s character was a bit inspired by Zacharie and the judge. Think about it. He is reliable, friendly, humorous guy that shows up throughout the adventure, and you never quite know what his deal is. He never stops smiling, either. As for why he would have similarities to The Judge, well… By the way, the idea to use jazz music in the battle with Napstablook was also inspired by OFF…”
He also stated more details about his contributions to the soundtrack. Mortis Ghost, the game’s creator, approached Fox to help with the soundtrack. He agreed, and he was assigned the boss themes and battle theme. He also worked on the song shown in the initial announcement trailer.
Further, Fox said that “I did the music for free, and I’ll upload my tracks for free after the game comes out. Personally, I don’t think the original music is replaceable, so I want to treat what I made like “fanmusic”, made just out of love and respect for the original.”
