In Toby Fox’s latest Holiday Newsletter, he confirmed that Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 are “basically completed.” In the newsletter, Toby Fox also details his recent shenanigans on Bluesky and the recent patch released for Deltarune chapter 1 and 2.
Fox’s update on Deltarune is as follows: “Deltarune reached a 6th Anniversary. Since UNDERTALE came out, 9 years passed, and I only released 2 Chapters of DELTARUNE so far. Internally, Chapter 3&4 are basically completed besides translation and bug testing… they are frozen… waiting to be released…”
In terms of Chapter 5, he says that “some team members had to focus on Chapter 1, 2, and 3 bugfixes for a while, but our more recent hires have able to work on Chapter 5 during that time, so progress has still been steady! The rate of creation is quite solid this time! Many things are in development at once!”
The last thing he mentions is that “on Halloween 2024, we announced…Chapter 3&4 will release in 2025. This is 100000000000% true. We are also working on some other exciting things that we can’t talk about now. It will take a good while to get going, but 2025 looks like it will be an interesting year…!” The newsletter ends with a clickable link where you can read an in-character perspective on the Winter from one of Deltarune‘s characters, Noelle Holiday.
Deltarune is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Its predecessor, Undertale, is also available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Toby Fox will likely confirm more details about the future of Deltarune and its chapters in the coming months.
