At CES 2025, Lenovo revealed its new Lenovo Legion Go S and Go 2 handhelds, which both support SteamOS. In fact, Lenovo is the only partner for SteamOS thus far, making these handhelds quite unique.
Firstly, the Lenovo Legion Go S will release this May featuring an 8″ WUXGA 16:10 120Hz PureSight touch display, the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor or AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, up to 32GB of 7500Mhz LPDDR5X RAM, and a 3-cell 55.5Whr battery. Weighing at just 1.61 pounds, it will also feature Wi-Fi 6e support, a pair of USB 4 ports on the top, and a microSD card reader.
Lenovo Legion Go S units with SteamOS will start at $499.99 with 16GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage in May, and the 1 TB variant will be $599.99. A Windows variant will release first this month at $729.99 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Units will be available in black or white as well.
Moreover, a new Lenovo Legion Go 2 is currently in the prototype phase. Specifications for the new device include the all-new Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, a larger 8.8-inch 144Hz OLED display with variable refresh rate support, up to a 2 TB SSD, and a big 74Whr battery. Pricing and a release date was not announced, however.
Moreover, Valve confirmed that it plans to improve SteamOS compatibility with other handhelds. Ahead of Legion Go S shipping, Valve will ship a beta version of SteamOS that should be an improvement to the existing version. Users may download it and test it, and Valve will continue adding support in future releases of SteamOS.
