Here’s an overview of SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist, via the official Steam page:

Take on the challenge of escaping from endless haunted houses as shrine maiden Yono!

Following in the footsteps of her missing Onmyouji brother, shrine maiden Yono arrives at a terrifying mansion haunted by yokai and vengeful spirits called Mononoke. With limited items and traps at your disposal, you will need knowledge, experience, and courage to survive the endlessly-changing halls and rooms.

  • Discover the type and number of Mononoke in the next room by listening for sounds and uncovering other clues
  • Lure the Mononoke into traps you’ve placed
  • Use elements of the mansion like fireplaces and broken floors to your advantage

When Yono is in grave danger, another side of her personality is revealed and she gains new strength. Predict and control this transformation to gain another advantage over the Mononoke.

Choose your experience

Face down the challenges of the mansion in three unique modes that change the play experience.

  • Harai – Fixed maps that challenge you to solve specific puzzles
  • Misogi – Escape randomly-generated maps in a more casual experience
  • Gyou – Hardcore randomly-generated maps with a heavy focus on survival
Production Staff:
  • Director / Game Designer: Kenichi Iwao (Resident Evil, Einhander, Parasite Eve 2, Final Fantasy XI)
  • Character Design: Tatsuya Yoshikawa (Breath of Fire series, Devil May Cry 4 and 5, Last Ranker, Slitterhead)
  • Programming: Hiroshi Ogino (Shiren the Wanderer: Mystery Dungeon, Fate/Grand Order, Culdcept Mobile)
An upgraded and refined experience!

The game has been significantly expanded from the previous Shinonome title, with more Mononoke, more traps and items, more dungeons, and a major boss. Also new is the addition of Yono’s alternate personality. Based on the players’ feedback from the previous title, the game contents have also undergone tuning in order to improve the play experience.
