The story of Scum of the Brave focuses on Yashiro, the Grim Reaper, who is reluctant to take his new apprentice Aki Jogamine on the job. Aki is a high school girl training to become a Brave—a fighter capable of taking down mafia who use ether to turn themselves into Demon Lords. However, Yashiro will need all the help he can get solving cases, so Aki is along for the ride, regardless.
