HoYoverse announced the Genshin Impact Version 5.3 “Incandescent Ode of Resurrection” update will launch on January 1, 2025 featuring Pyro Archon Mavuika, the latest Act of the Archon Quest, the Lantern Rite event, and so much more. Players can also look forward to free rewards, including Intertwined Fates ×10, Primogems ×1,600, and a free 4-star Liyue character.
Act V of the Natlan Archon Quest awaits in Genshin Impact Version 5.3, with the Traveler on the verge of awakening their Pyro power. Meanwhile, the Abyss are about to unleash the Abyssal Mimic Dragon, also known as the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire. Players will have the opportunity to bring Mavuika to their party with the new Event Wish. As a claymore user, she’s able to deal heavy physical and Pyro damage, thanks to her Elemental Skill and Burst. Not only can she deal powerful AoE Pyro attacks, but she can increase interruption resistance and increase her own attack power.
“Granny Itztli,” also known as Citlali from the Masters of the Night-Wind, arrives as 5-star Cryo Catalyst user and a powerful Shaman. She’s able to transform her companions,
Itzpapa and Citlalin, into cushions and pillows to float in mid-air in exploration. In combat, she can summon defensive Cryo shields and powerful Cryo storms to deal AoE DMG. Both Mavuika and Citlali debut in the first half of Version 5.3’s Event Wishes, with reruns for Arlecchino and Clorinde arriving in the second half.

Liyue’s Lan Yan also makes her debut as a new 4-star Anemo Catalyst user in the second half of Version 5.3. As an inheritor of the Qimen Arts. she has the ability to use the Swallow-Wisp Shield and convert its Element into Hydro, Pyro, Cryo or Electro to absorb corresponding Elemental DMG. She can also leap into the air to attack with that same Elemental DMG. In addition, more 5-star characters Ganyu and Shenhe will return with the Chronicled Wish.
The Liyue Harbor will be decorated to celebrate Lantern Rite. Players can celebrate this holiday with various free rewards, including Primogems ×1,600, the new “Wings of Fate’s Course Intertwined” glider, Intertwined Fate ×10, a free 4-star Liyue character, and a new outfit for Xiangling.
This year, players can also share customized gift envelopes with companions and other Travelers during Lantern Rite, The block clearing mini-game “Immortal Combat” and a new combat challenge with Stratagem buffs will also be available. Moreover, Hu Tao’s new outfit “Cherries Snow-Laden” will be discounted for a limited-time in the Shop.
On December 28, HoYoFair 2025’s Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program “Dimensional Detective Chronicles” on YouTube, Twitter/X, and TikTok. This program will feature “If Genshin Had a Cyberpunk Anime: Progenitor” by Dillongoo and “Genshin with Guns” fan animations by No Tables, among many other projects.
Lastly, Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Windows and Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in development.
