Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Details Monster Arena, Rescues and More

    Rescue monsters and get stronger.

Square Enix revealed new details about Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, including Monster Arena tournaments, rescuing monsters, and locations.

The new Monster Arena tournaments are available across many locations in the world in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. To win, players must accessible their best possible team of three rescued monsters. Rescuing more than one of the same species of monster makes that type even stronger. Players should be on the lookout for strong monsters and form a team that can survive multiple battles in a row. The “Tactics” option in the battle menu will allow you to adjust how they behave in battle, too.

Friendly monsters may be found in towns, dungeons, and secret spots. Some monsters may flee when exposed to certain sounds, smells or people, however. Try using an ability that lets you approach quietly or an item that can turn you invisible or mask your sent. Party members with the new Monster Wrangler vocation will know how to rescue monsters efficiently, thanks to the Animal Instinct ability. The vocation also has the Monster Pile-On ability, which deals more damage as more monsters are rescued.

Aside from rescuing monsters, players will have a lot of locations to visit, including the nation of Romaria and the rural village of Mur. Romaria has a magnificent castle with equally impressive statues and a town square with a fountain in its center. There’s even a Monster Arena in Romaria. The nation’s king apparently has ties with Aliahan. Meanwhile, Mur is a snowy village with a lively inhabitants, a market, and a wharf (Thanks, Gematsu!).

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will release on November 14 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Lastly, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will release in 2025.
