Square Enix Wants to Bring Final Fantasy XVI to Xbox

We do want to release it on Xbox, Naoki Yoshida says.

Square Enix wants to bring Final Fantasy XVI to Xbox platforms like Xbox Series X|S, according to producer Naoki Yoshida in a recent interview at Video Games on Sports Illustrated. Yoshida shared his thoughts on this potential Xbox version after the launch of Final Fantasy XVI on PC

“Of course we did announce the PC version of the game, so looking towards the Xbox version, we do want to release it on Xbox,” Yoshida said. “But when it comes to the specifics such as when the game would be available and such, we are not in a position to be able to share anything.”

Yoshida added, “But of course, I want to say that it’s not as if there’s zero hope, and we very much do want to achieve that,” he added. “So players should not give up in terms of their hopes.”

Yoshida’s comments certainly resonate with Square Enix’s newfound willingness for multi-platform releases of Final Fantasy games. Recently, Square Enix brought the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games to Xbox Series X|S, so it’s likely that Final Fantasy XVI will follow up at some point in the near future.

Final Fantasy XVI is available now for PS5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A Complete Edition is available on all platforms, featuring the Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide DLC. The cost of the digital Standard Edition on PS5 has also been reduced to $49.99, ensuring both editions on PS5 and PC are the same price.
