Chapter 14 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex is one of the most important chapters in the story by far. Not only does Boruto explain the Divine Tree situation to the Konoha officials, but things also start to heat up dangerously later on. After the occurrence of these crazy events, readers can theorize a lot about what could happen next. So, let’s talk about it!
What Happened in Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 14?
Chapter 14 starts off with Boruto awakening in an interrogation room. In Chapter 13, Kawaki and the rest of the Konoha officials put him in handcuffs so that they could get more intel out of him later. After telling Boruto the current situation, Konohamaru wastes no time and asks him about the humanoid Divine Trees that attacked the village. Eida catches wind of the interrogation, and Daemon teases Kawaki about what would happen if everyone found out he lied. Kawaki feels that regardless of what happens, it’s all Boruto’s fault that Naruto disappeared and that killing him is vital because he is an Ohtsutsuki. However, Kawaki needs to get more information from this Boruto interrogation so that he can learn how to deal with the humanoid Divine Trees. Ultimately, both parties won’t move forward until Boruto spits out some information.
Boruto explains the humanoid Divine Trees to Konohamaru and discusses how they are trying to gain information. The rest of the humanoid Divine Trees must devour specific people to gain information, but all of this is for the sake of Jura. Jura is the main humanoid Divine Tree and is a direct incarnation of Ten-Tails itself. Having the other humanoid Divine Trees devour their important individuals helps Jura gain the information he needs. Having said that, there’s no saving the world if Jura isn’t defeated. Konohamaru questions how Boruto knows so much, but Boruto states that he can’t reveal the identity of his source. This is where things go for a horrific turn.
The Physical Interrogation
The Konoha Council mentions that they have no issue with killing Boruto, as he is a threat regardless. So, he would at least receive a painless death if he gave information. This understandably concerns Shikamaru because he can’t let Boruto die due to his trust in him. However, out of the blue, Boruto mentions that Naruto and Hinata are safe somewhere and that he didn’t kill them. This is massive information for everyone, as this changes a lot of the mood. Unfortunately for them, Boruto doesn’t plan to reveal any more details, so Ibiki begins to physically interrogate Boruto. I would just like to point out that Ibiki hasn’t had this many appearances since the Chuunin Exams in Part 1 of Naruto. It’s very refreshing to see this old character get screen time, considering that a huge issue I have with Boruto is that a lot of side characters are underutilized.
Shikamaru’s Desperate Attempts
Going back to the chapter, Shikamaru communicates with Ino to try to get in contact with Boruto. However, she feels that the constant communication with Shikamaru is against regulation, so she ceases it completely. Shikamaru comes up with another idea to bring in Mitsuki to “interrogate” him, when in reality, Shikamaru gave Mitsuki the code to unlock Boruto’s handcuffs. It seems like Boruto felt this was the plan, so he pretends to insult Mitsuki so that he has a reason to come directly to him. Mitsuki’s snake secretly unlocks Boruto’s cuffs, which allows him to escape. Before he escapes, though, he clarifies to everyone that he doesn’t see them as foes and that he understands how needed his intel is. However, he will only share his information when he decides to do so.
Oh, But Things Just Got Worse
Of course, the Konoha Council is frustrated about this and tells Shikamaru that it will have lasting consequences. Sad to say, Shikamaru still has no room to relax, as he just received a message from Kankuro saying that both Gaara and his adopted son Shinki were taken down, presumably by one of the humanoid Divine Trees. The chapter then ends with a reveal of what came out of the Thorn Soul Bulb from the previous chapter: Shinki. Shinki’s humanoid Divine Tree counterpart is named Ryu, and it seems to be a terror, considering how much of a big deal the other humanoid Divine Trees are making it. I wonder what could come out of this situation. Where did Boruto run off to? What’s Shikamaru’s next move? How will the humanoid Divine Trees act now? Another Boruto chapter, another time for theorizing.
