GameStop Shuts Down Game Informer And Lays Off All Staff

    Published:

This morning, GameStop announced via a tweet on the Game Informer X account that the long-running magazine is shutting down, effective immediately. All staff at the publication have been laid off. The magazine has published over 350 issues since its beginning, with over 33 years of service. Just a few months ago, the company opened a standalone magazine subscription, which was received positively by thousands. This is a terrible, terrible loss for our industry. Please keep the former staff members of Game Informer in mind.

After 33 thrilling years of bringing you the latest news, reviews, and insights from the ever-evolving world of gaming, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Game Informer.

From the early days of pixelated adventures to today’s immersive virtual realms, we’ve been honored to share this incredible journey with you, our loyal readers. While our presses may stop, the passion for gaming that we’ve cultivated together will continue to live on.

Thank you for being part of our epic quest, and may your own gaming adventures never end.

GameStop acquired Game Informer in 2000 when it purchased retailer FuncoLand. The magazine has provided exclusive interviews and coverage from all over the world for years and continues to do so today.
