Kadokawa and Aniplex have announced the Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus TV anime for 2025. While this project was previously announced, only the University Arc was referenced, and we did not have a format determined, whether that be ONA, TV, or movie. It’s likely that around three to four volumes will be adapted with this project, as the University Arc begins in Volume 10 and Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus is Volume 13.
The Rascal Does Not Dream series is led by CloverWorks, a subsidiary of Aniplex. The studio first released the TV anime Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai in 2018, followed by the Rascal Does Not Dream of Dreaming Girl movie in 2019. The series did not receive any further adaptations until last year when two films were released to cover the Sister Venturing Out and Knapsack Kid arcs.
This TV anime will adapt the University Arc, with Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus acting as one of the novels included. Publisher Yen Press describes the novel as the following:
Sakuta thought he’d already accomplished step one: Find Touko Kirishima. The next step was convincing her to help protect Mai, but that proved easier said than done. In the process, however, he makes a confusing discovery: There are multiple Touko Kirishimas! The Touko he knows may not actually be the person he’s looking for! With clues from his friends’ prophetic dreams, he gets closer to figuring out exactly what danger awaits Mai, but he’ll have to sort through the fake Kirishimas and determine who’s the real deal before it’s too late…
Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus will premiere in 2025. A studio has yet to be announced, but it’s most assuredly CloverWorks who will handle the project.
