During the Like a Dragon: Yakuza Panel at San Diego Comic Con 2024, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released the first teaser trailer for the new Prime Video series. In addition, an interview video featuring RGG Studio director and executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama was released.

The new Like a Dragon: Yakuza Prime Video series will premiere this fall. The series will span six episodes and release in two waves, with the first on October 24 and the second on November 1.
The series will follow the events of the first game. The story centers around Kazuma Kiryu, portrayed by Ryoma Takeuchi, and takes place in both 1995 and 2005. Characters such as Goro Majima, Haruka Sawamura, Reina, Makoto Date, Shintaro Kazuma, and Akira Nishikiyama will appear in the retelling.
The series itself will mostly take place in the fictional city of Kamurocho, based on the Kabukicho district in Tokyo. The first Yakuza title follows Kazuma Kiryu after he is sentenced to 10 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Once free, he gets involved in a massive mystery with 10 billion yen missing from the Tojo Clan.
Like a Dragon is one of SEGA’s biggest properties. Earlier this year, the eighth mainline installment, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, released with Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as protagonists. Final Weapon’s 5/5 review, we stated the game “is a grand, momentous adventure that sees players control both of the series protagonists in a story that ultimately shapes the future of Like a Dragon.”
The next Like a Dragon game is currently in development, and the next reveal from RGG Studio will happen at Tokyo Game Show 2024.
