Warner Bros. Games has announced that they have acquired the developers of MultiVersus, Player First Games. The free-to-play fighting game is available now on most consoles.
MultiVersus released on May 28 after an open beta in 2022. The fighting game, heavily inspired by the likes of Super Smash Bros. and Brawlhalla, features characters from throughout Warner Brothers’ history. This includes the Looney Toons, Steven Universe, characters from the DC Universe, Adventure Time, and more recently, Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th and Agent Smith from The Matrix. The next characters coming to the game will be Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice.
Warner Bros. Games Acquires Player First Games, Developers of MultiVersus
Warner Bros. Games has revealed that they have acquired Player First Games. The developers are currently working on Multiversus, the free-to-play fighting game available now on most consoles. In a press release, the president of Warner Bros. Games had this to say:
“We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”
Tony Huynh of Player First also stated the following about the acquisition: “Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
MultiVersus is available now on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
