    The Music of Mother Concert Set for June 22

    Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Earthbound.

    Shigesato Itoi, via the Mother Project website, has announced that a symphonic concert titled The Music of Mother is set for June 22. The concert celebrates the 30th anniversary of Earthbound, and will require tickets to watch either digitally or in-person.

    Earthbound initially released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. The game served as a sequel to the NES title, simply titled Mother. Over the years, the entire franchise has reached a cult status that extends to Earthbound‘s Japan-exclusive sequel, Mother 3. Recently, Nintendo released Mother 3 for the Nintendo Switch Online Service, exclusively in Japan. It is unknown if the game will ever release in the West.

    The Music of Mother Concert Announced, Streaming on June 22

    On the official Mother Project website, Shigesato Itoi announced that a concert dedicated to Earthbound/Mother 2 will stream on June 22. The Music of Mother Concert will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Earthbound. The concert will be split into three parts: the first will be Hirokazu Tanaka performing a Mother remix. The second will have Shigesato Itoi, Keiichi Suzuki, and Hirokazu Tanaka talk about the music of Mother. The third will have Suzuki perform the music of Mother with a specially organized band.

    One set of tickets is available for 4,950 JPY, or approximately $30. This set will include the viewing tickets and a special memento based on Earthbound. The second set will cost 3,300 yen, or around $20. Tickets will be available from June 4 to July 7. People from the following countries can watch the event: Japan, Brazil, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Macau, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Italy, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Peru.

    Lastly, the Music of Mother concert will stream on June 22. The staff behind the event will reveal more details about merchandise for the event in the coming weeks.
