Terror of the Deep Weaknesses and Tips
The Terror of the Deep is weak to electricity so be sure to bring some Lightning Materia with you! Giving it a good shock and piling on some physical damage will be your MO. Most of its attacks can be blocked, just watch out for its binding attacks and big abilities.
Terror of the Deep Phase 1
Watch out for the boss’s Water Cell attack, it cannot be blocked; so dodge instead. It will bind party members in a bubble. The bubble can easily be popped with some well-placed magic or a flurry of physical attacks. Guard any of the boss’s water attacks other than Water Cell. Most of its physical attacks, like Tail Lash, can be countered with Synergy Abilities or Cloud’s Punisher Mode parry. This beastie also has a grab called Grasping Tail, avoid this by keeping your distance or dodging.
Terror of the Deep Phase 2
This phase mostly gives the boss a couple of new attacks and new movement patterns. The Terror of the Deep now mostly pops in and out of specific spots, moving between each spot while using its new abilities. Its main new attack is Oceanic Tornado, which pops in the middle of the battle arena. Dodge away from it while avoiding other water torrents. Be careful, as this attack also sucks you in. Besides that, you can basically recycle your strategies from the first phase. Avoid its grabs and give it plenty of jolts while continuing your assault.
