    Toei Animation’s Girls Band Cry Anime Premieres April 5

    An all-new original series.

    Toei Animation announced that the upcoming Girls Band Cry anime series will premiere on April 5, 2024. A new trailer also confirms the time each episode of Girls Band Cry will air weekly. 

    Girls Band Cry is an original anime from Toei Animation. Toei is a beloved studio known for several different anime over the last ten years, including One Piece, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and much more.

    The official website for Girls Band Cry has been updated with the April 5 premiere date, a new trailer, and the time that fans can expect new episodes to air. Firstly, the new anime will air at 24:30 JST, or 12:30 a.m. JST on April 6. The anime will air on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11. A streaming service has not been announced yet, however.

    The cast of the series includes:

    • RINA as Nina Iseri
    • Yuri as Momoka Kawaragi
    • Mirei as Subaru Awa
    • Natsu as Tomo Ebizuka
    • Syuri as Rupa

    Kazuo Sakai will direct the series at Toei. Jukki Hanada will handle series composition. Nari Teshima will be the lead character designer. Mari Kondō and Jae Hoon Jung are the CGI directors, Kenji Tamai will compose the music, while Yūsuke Tanaka is credited for music accompaniment.

    The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
