Microsoft to Share “Vision for the Future of Xbox” Next Week

Over the weekend, multiple reports broke that the company planned to release StarfieldHi-Fi Rush, and other Xbox exclusives onto competing platforms. Today, Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to address the talk of rumors that Microsoft is taking exclusive content to new platforms, like PlayStation 5. He states that the company is “listening”, and will be sharing “our vision for the future of Xbox” next week.

Spencer’s quote in full can be found below:

“We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”

A clear and concise update on the Xbox strategy is something needed. Overall, the company’s path and vision aren’t clear right now, with multiple ventures contradicting one another. The rumors of multiplatform releases first began with Hi-Fi Rush. We reported on the Australian rating of Hi-Fi Rush for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, which ultimately led to more reports that a Q1 release was imminent for the Tango Gameworks title. This was finally backed with a new data mine, which contained shirt textures in PlayStation and Nintendo Switch colors.

It’s unclear what this presentation event will look like, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated. As Spencer said, they have been planning a business update event for next week, so it’s likely this could be a sort of roundtable discussion with Xbox, Bethesda, Activision, and Blizzard leadership.
