Shochiku has announced that Gundam SEED FREEDOM has earned 1.06 billion yen (about 7.20 million USD) in its first three days in the theaters. The movie has also sold 634,182 tickets so far.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom is the long-awaited sequel to the SEED Destiny anime series. The original series ran from 2004-2005. The new movie will pick up right from where SEED Destiny left off with Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne serving as the two main characters once more.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom Reaches Major Milestone: 1.06 Billion in Three Days
On Monday, January 29, entertainment company Shochiku officially announced that Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom has earned 1.06 billion yen, or 7.20 million USD, in its first three days in theaters. The earnings mark the Gundam franchise’s highest three-day opening, and the biggest opening weekend film in Japan so far. The film initially premiered in Japanese theaters on Friday, January 26. It is currently unknown when the movie will premiere in Western theaters.
