White Owls studio CEO Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro revealed a new gameplay clip for Hotel Barcelona, a new “2.5D slasher film parodic action” game developed in cooperation with Goichi “Suda51” Suda from Grasshopper Manufacture (No More Heroes series).
After years of speculation and hype, Swery65 and Suda51 finally revealed Hotel Barcelona at the Xbox Digital Broadcast during Tokyo Game Show 2023. The initial concept is inspired Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, but Hotel Barcelona evolved into so much more over the years. Ahead of the new year, Swery65 revealed new gameplay to end 2023 on a high note.
Swery65 Shares New Hotel Barcelona Gameplay to End the Year
White Owls is going on break for the rest of 2023, so Swery65 decided to reveal new Hotel Barcelona gameplay footage. The new gameplay clip is roughly 56 seconds long with plenty of 2.5D action to watch. It’s worth noting that the gameplay clip does not have music, however.

Swery65 and White Owls are also developing Death Game Hotel, a new VR horror adventure poker game where the stakes are extremely high. In fact, players will need to put their body parts on the line in order to win the “Death Game 2000” tournament and survive. Players may enter the tournament in a single-player mode, and an online multiplayer mode is also available. The new VR title will come to Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3 as an exclusive to the Meta platform.
Lastly, Hotel Barcelona releases in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Here’s an overview of the new title, via Xbox:
