The January 2024 of Gundam Ace magazine confirms that the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom movie will receive an official novel adaptation. Liu Goto and Tomofumi Ogasawara will be the authors for the new novel.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom picks up from where the SEED Destiny anime series and films left off nearly two decades ago. Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne serving as the two main characters again in the upcoming film. Fans may re-experience the story in an official novelization during the same month as the premiere.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Novel
Liu Goto and Tomofumi Ogasawara’s Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom novel will run for two to three volumes. The first volume will ship on January 30, 2024. An English release was not confirmed, however. Gundam fans may recognize Goto as the author of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny novels. Goto also penned the script for the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom movie. Ogasawara drew the illustrations for the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED novel.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED director Mitsuo Fukuda returns to direct Freedom. Fukuda is joined by Goto as co-scriptwriters, and Fukuda’s late wife Chiaki Morosawa is credited as a contributor for the script. According to Fukuda, the story was finalized in 2008, and Morosawa had fallen ill shortly after the conclusion of 2005’s SEED Destiny anime series. Further series character designer Hisashi Hirai also reprises his role for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom’s staff.
