Housemarque has announced that the director of Returnal, Harry Krueger, will be departing the company after an almost fifteen year tenure. Alongside the announcement, Krueger himself released a statement talking about his time at the company.
Housemarque released Returnal with PlayStation in 2021. Nixxes released a PC port of the game earlier this year. It is currently unknown what Housemarque’s next project will be. They will likely reveal more information in the coming months.
Returnal Director Departs Housemarque After Almost Fifteen Years
In a recent press release, Housemarque announced that Returnal‘s director, Harry Krueger, will be departing the company after fourteen years. In the announcement, Krueger shared a message, stating:
“During my 14 years at Housemarque, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work on one dream project after another, and had the privilege of working alongside some truly talented and wonderful people along the way. It’s been an honor to accompany Housemarque on this journey, witnessing our growth from our smaller arcade-inspired titles to the magnificent heights we reached with Returnal.
We really shook the pillars of heaven together, and I will forever be proud of all the amazing things we’ve accomplished as a studio. Departing from Housemarque was a very difficult decision for me, but I’m leaving the company with nothing but deep gratitude for the past, and a glowing optimism for the future – with an exciting new project in the works, a fantastic team that’s stronger than ever, and the continuous support of Sony and Playstation Studios, I know that Housemarque’s brightest chapter has yet to be written.”
Additionally, the announcement ended with the statement that “as Housemarque gears up for the new big project, an air of appreciation coupled with eagerness for the promising future ahead is what the growing team will take forward to build the next best thing from Finland.” They will likely reveal more information about this project soon.
