Sony Has Delayed Half of Their 12 Planned GAAS Titles

These games will not release until beyond March 2026.

Sony and PlayStation have officially announced that they have delayed half of their 12 upcoming GAAS (games as a service) titles. The unknown six games will not release until after March 2026.

Over the last few years, Sony has announced and focused on several GAAS titles. Examples include Marathon, The Last of Us Factions 2, and, of course, their continued support of Bungie’s Destiny. Most of these games have either been delayed, unreleased, or panned by critics and fans alike.

The Last of Us Multiplayer Game Development Reportedly 'On Ice'

An article from Video Games Chronicle reported that of Sony’s previously unannounced 12 upcoming GAAS titles, six will be delayed beyond March 2026. COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki stated the following in a recent earnings call:

“We are reviewing this… we are trying as much as possible to ensure [these games] are enjoyed and liked by gamers for a long time. [Of] the 12 titles, six titles will be released by FY25 – that’s our current plan. [As for] the remaining six titles, we are still working on that.

That’s the total number of live service and multiplayers titles [and] mid-to-long-term we want to [push] this kind of service and that’s the unchanged policy of the company. It’s not like we stick to certain titles, but game quality should be the most important [thing].”

A majority of the GAAS titles in development have been unannounced. The only ones that have been confirmed are The Last of Us Factions 2, Marathon, a Horizon online game, and a new IP from PlayStation’s London studio. The delay likely comes from an internal review courtesy of Bungie. PlayStation will likely confirm more information about their upcoming GAAS lineup in the coming months.

Lastly, PlayStation’s most recent game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is available now on the PlayStation 5. PlayStation’s next GAAS title is currently unknown. However, more details will probably be confirmed towards the year’s end.
