After much anticipation, Spider-Man 2 will finally release this Friday, October 20. The upcoming superhero title follows 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
SM2 will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 5. However, with Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ PC releases, many wonder whether its sequel will be available on the hardware. Here’s everything you need to know about if and when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will release on PC.
What is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
Spider-Man 2 is the latest entry in the beloved comic-book character’s mythos. Fans can expect plenty of new suits and abilities to appear in the title. According to a recently released trailer, the game is described as follows:
Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Nine months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we find Miles still enlisting Peter’s help, but when the mysterious symbiote appears, Peter and Miles’ relationships are put to the test.
Peter begins to change as he gains symbiote powers, and Miles, Mary Jane, Harry, and the rest of the friend group must help Peter while also facing the impending threats from a cast of new villains like Kraven, Lizard, Sandman, and Venom!
The game will be available on the PlayStation 5 exclusively this Friday. A day-one patch will be downloadable alongside the game.
Will Spider-Man 2 Come to PC?
At the time of writing, a PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has not yet been confirmed. However, with the success of Insomniac’s previous games, Spider-Man Remastered and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, on the hardware, it is highly likely that a PC port will be available at some point.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was initially released for the PlayStation 5 in 2021, with a PC port being available in mid-2023. Same with Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which was released in 2020. Insomniac and Nixxes released its PC port in 2022. With that pattern, it is highly likely we will see Spider-Man 2 release on PC in the future.
If you want to try the series, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is available on the PlayStation 5 for $49.99. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available for the same price on the PlayStation Store. Both Spider-Man 2 prequels are also available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Spider-Man 2 Releases on October 20
Fans can play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at 12:00 AM EDT on October 20, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
Those purchasing a physical copy can note that it is fully playable with the content on the disc. However, Insomniac does recommend downloading the day-one update for improved performance in opening segments.
Spider-Man 2 will be available for everyone on Friday, October 20. So far, it has received dozens of rave reviews and averaged 91 on Metacritic. It seems that the title is set to be the ultimate Spider-Man experience for fans of the character.
