    PlayStation Plus Premium Adds Sony Pictures Core Movies Benefit

    More PlayStation Plus benefits coming soon.

    Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the Bravia Core app is being rebranded to Sony Pictures Core, which also comes as a new benefit for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. With a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners gain access to thousands of movies to buy or rent. 

    This past August, Sony announced pricing for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions for the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers would increase on September 6. Essential 12-month subscriptions are $79.99, Extra 12-month subscriptions are $134.99, and Premium 12-month subscriptions are $159.99. The price increase was not well-received by many subscribers, and Sony appears to be adding new benefits to the Premium tier now. 

    Sony Pictures Core Comes to PlayStation Plus Premium

    Previously exclusive to Sony Bravia TVs and Xperia devices, Bravia Core will now be known as Sony Pictures Core. The new Sony Pictures Core app is now available on PS4 and PS5. Those who sign up for Sony Pictures Core gain access to 2,000 movies, which are available to rent or buy on PS4 and PS5. At launch, movies that are available on the app include Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers also gain access to a curated catalog of up to 100 movies on demand in Sony Pictures Core. This ad-free catalog includes Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation.

    Additionally, users gain exclusive early access to films in select regions. In the U.K., France, Germany, and Japan, the first film with Sony Pictures Core early access will be Gran Turismo: Based on a True StoryGran Turismo is currently available through Sony Pictures Core in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Purchasing the film gives users credit towards an in-game purchase in Gran Turismo 7. Moreover, the film is also IMAX Enhanced. Players may find the Sony Pictures Core app in the Media section on PS5 and on the PS Store for PS4.

    More PlayStation Plus Benefits Planned

    According to the latest PlayStation Blog post, the company will introduce more benefits to all PlayStation Plus tiers. In addition, Sony plans to expand the offerings and benefits of Sony Pictures Core over time as well. These benefits also include a selection of hit anime content from Crunchyroll.
