Netflix has officially announced Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, a new anime coming to the service. The series will star beloved actress Hayley Atwell in the titular role. The company has not yet confirmed a release date.
Core Design released the first Tomb Raider for the PlayStation 1 in 1996. A collection of the first three games will be available on all consoles on February 14. In 2013, Crystal Dynamics released a reboot of the series simply titled Tomb Raider. A new game in the series is apparently in early development on Unreal Engine 5. The first trailer for the upcoming series hints at its story and animation style.
Tomb Raider Anime Coming Soon
The first trailer for the Lara Croft anime shows the titular character firing a bow, exploring caves, and finding mystical treasure. Fans of the series will find a lot of familiarity in the set pieces. It is currently unknown if the anime will be adapting a specific game. However, Crystal Dynamics will be supervising its production. The description of the series states that it will be “coming soon, only on Netflix.” Check out the first trailer for the anime below:
