    Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Board Game Announced for Switch

    Aniplex have announced that a new Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba board game is coming to Nintendo Switch. The game’s official Japanese title is Kimetsu no Yaiba Mezase! Saikyō Taishi!, and its planned for a 2024 release. 

    The previous game in the popular anime and manga series was Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles, which was published by SEGA and developed by CyberConnect2. Fans may recognize CyberConnect2 as the developers of the .hack and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Soon, Demon Slayer fans may look forward to an anime-inspired take on the signature board game / Mario Party formula. 

    Demon Slayer Gets a New Board Game Style Title for Switch

    Following Aniplex Online Fest 2023, the company launched an official website for Kimetsu no Yaiba Mezase! Saikyō Taishi!. This new board game-style Nintendo Switch game lets Demon Slayer fans play together locally or online in various boards. Nine playable characters are included in the new title with Nezuko being a support character. Some of the playable characters include Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. Several mini-games and a day and night cycle are present. 

    A new key visual depicting Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Nezuko, and Inosuke was revealed by Aniplex and ufotable, the studio that animates the anime series. Currently, the new Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba game is scheduled to release in 2024 for Switch in Japan. A worldwide release was not announced, however. Aniplex notes that this is the second installment in the Demon Slayer video game series, so more game adaptations may come in the future. Additionally, the official website notes that the new title was developed in Unreal Engine.

    Lastly, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
