Haigakura TV Anime Series Premieres in 2024

The official website for the Haigakura fantasy manga series by Shinobu Takayama confirms that the new anime adaptation will premiere in 2024. Takayama also shared a special message to fans about the upcoming TV anime.

The Haigakura manga was serialized from 2008 to 2015 in Comic ZERO-SUM EXTRA WARD magazine by Ichijinsha. After the Ichijinsha magazine ceased publication, the manga continued its run on the ZERO-SUM Online website. The series sold 16 volumes with 1.3 million copies in circulation, and its success carries over in the form of the TV anime.

The new Haigakura anime will premiere in 2024 across Japanese TV networks. The total number of episodes were not revealed, but fans can expect a weekly run of episodes. Moreover, a new teaser visual for the Haigakura anime was revealed, and Takayama shared a special message to fans. Takayama is still surprised that the anime is a reality and hopes fans will continue to support the manga series as well.

“It has been 15 years this year since I started drawing the manga in obscurity in a bimonthly magazine,  “I am amazed at how much time has passed, but I can’t believe that in the 15th year, an anime adaptation has been decided…! Even now, I can’t get over the surprise. To all of you who gave me so much support and effort to make this project a reality, thank you so much. I hope you will continue to support both Haigakura, the manga and the anime.”

Where to Watch the Anime

Haigakura will air on Japanese TV networks in 2024. A worldwide distributor for the anime (i.e. Crunchyroll) has not been announced yet. 

The story of Haigakura takes place in the world of Senkai. This is a sacred world where immortals and humans live, but it’s on the verge of collapse. Protagonist Ichiyou and his follower Tenkou set out on a journey to search for the four evil gods responsible for bringing ruin to Senkai.  Ichiyou is a poet warrior who uses a technique called Kessai to capture such evil gods.
