Chainsaw Man Chapter 139 Recap
Chainsaw Man Chapter 139 starts off with Miri Sugo introducing himself. He tells Denji that he fought him in the fight against Makima, but since Denji wasn’t in control at the time, he couldn’t remember. Annoyed by Sugo, Denji leaves. Sugo is introduced in front of Sugo’s class as the new transfer student. He quickly becomes popular among the female students, and he is annoyed by the attention despite making it clear that he doesn’t want to interact with his classmates. Denji is pissed at this.
The scene shifts to the balcony, where Sugo is introduced to Fumiko Mifune, the Public Safety agent who’s working as Denji’s bodyguard. She’s sitting on Denji’s back, much like a chair. Sugo invites Denji to join a march held by the Chainsaw Man Church. The march would be attended by people who can turn into devils. Sugo offers Denji a high position in the church which comes with a lot of money. He tempts him by telling him that he eats as much steak as he wants. Denji relishes the thought of unlimited Chinese food.
Sugo is still trying to convince Denji to join, but Denji says that he’s happy with his current life and doesn’t intend to join the Church. Sugo storms out, but before leaving, he mentions that Denji would’ve had the opportunity to be with as many women as he wanted. Denji chases him down the stairs and quickly agrees to join the Church. And with that, the chapter ended.
Conclusion
After a few confusing chapters that don’t seem to move in any particular direction, Fujimoto picks up the pace, and Chapter 140 sees Denji finally joining the Church dedicated to him. He might even participate in the Weapons March, which opens up the possibility of the return of Chainsaw Man. Whatever direction Fujimoto takes, we are sure to have a very entertaining chapter next week.
